Animal Services
Volunteers will support goals of the shelter by serving shelter customers; assisting with shelter adoptions and reuniting lost pets with owners; keeping shelter animals clean, safe and happy; and encouraging responsible pet ownership.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old (14-17 year olds will be interviewed), and be able to devote 2 hours a week for 3 months to be considered. Individuals and small groups (no more than 3) only due to limited shelter space. |

Center for the Arts
Volunteers will act as ushers taking tickets, checking coats and showing patrons to their seats at Abravanel Hall, Capitol Theatre and Rose Wagner Center.
Volunteers must 16 years or older, and be able to work 3-4 hour shifts 3-4 times per month. |

Northwest Community and Recreation Centers
Opportunities range from youth sports coaches, to the computer lab, the Kid's Cafe and special events. All volunteers must complete a background check.
Varying time committments from 2-4 hours for special events to 2-3 hours per week for coaches. |

Library Services
Volunteers support library staff in achieving the mission and goals of the library. Library Services has a wide range of volunteers serving in varied ways.
Volunteers 13-15 years of age must have parental approval and work no more than 4 hours a day. This program does accept some Court Ordered Services. |

Fleet Management
Fleet Management handles the transportation and mobile mechanical needs of all Salt Lake County agencies. We provide fuel, Motor Pool, maintenance and repair, parts, vehicle acquisition and replacement program, and other transportation-related needs. |

Aging Services Programs |
Meals On Wheels
The Aging Services Meals On Wheels Program looks for volunteers to deliver hot meals to seniors near their home or workplace. Along with meal delivery, volunteers also provide friendly visits and ensure the general safety and well being of their clients.
Volunteers donate one lunch hour per week, with routes comprising of 8-10 stops. Opportunities exist Monday-Friday from 10:30 am-1:30 pm. |

Ombudsman Program
Participating in the Ombudsman Program allows volunteers to help adults 60 years and older living in long term care (such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities). Volunteers will investigate reports of inadequacy of care; violation of rights; or abuse, neglect or exploitation of elderly residents.
Non-Certified Ombudsman will complete 20 hours of training, then commit a minimum of 2 hours a week for 4 months.
Certified Ombudsman will complete 40 hours of training, then commit to a minimum of 4 hours a week for 1 year. |

Bridges Program
Volunteers in the Bridges Program help children who are peforming below their grade level in reading, spelling, math or writing. In addition to tutoring, volunteers can become a role model for children, helping to improve self-esteem and create an attachment to school.
Volunteers must be at least 45 years of age, and commit to spend 2-4 hours each week in the classroom for an entire school year. |

Senior Transportation Program
Aging Services has two Senior Transportation volunteer opportunities: Volunteer Drivers provide rides for seniors to essential destinations, such as a doctor's appointment, using either their own or a County-owned vehicle. Office Support Volunteers provide office support by answering incoming calls, performing data entry, and preparing monthly mailings.
Volunteer Drivers commit to one 4 hour shift per week, and are required to have a Utah Drivers License, and a good driving record.
Office Support Volunteers commit 2-4 hours per week. |
